Top 20 Female TV Characters - 18. Ellie [Bartowski] Woodcomb (Chuck)

First off, I must point out that I have not gotten caught up on the last season of Chuck, which I will do soon but just haven’t had time yet. So this consists of my opinions of Ellie up to but not including the last season.

Ellie is obviously very different from the last two characters on this list. She is such a sweetheart and really just a lovely human being. I adore her relationship with absolutely every character on the show, from the obvious ones like Chuck and Captain Awesome to the more ridiculous like Casey, Morgan, and Lester and Jeff. The sibling dynamic between her and Chuck is so sweet but also believable because they aren’t perfect and they do have problems sometimes, which really are unavoidable when there are all these spy secrets and the like, but when it comes down to it they are both just trying to do their best to protect and take care of each other.

I also really love that they gave her the plot with figuring out their dad’s computer after she had the baby because I was worried that her role in the show would suddenly just be being a mother, not to say that there is anything wrong with that, but it isn’t a plot line that appeals to me personally. Again, I can’t comment on the most recent season but I was glad to see that taking care of the baby was getting divided up between the characters so that everyone could still have independent plots.

I like that Ellie isn’t just the loving but completely unaware older sister. Admittedly trying to keep her in the dark about Chuck being a spy happens a lot, but Ellie is still an intelligent and capable character. And she has realistic issues, worrying about her brother, being hesitant about their parents after they’d been out of their lives for so long, and not liking how all of the spy business is effecting their lives (like in Chuck vs The Ring, which is one of my favorite episodes). Basically, I just think Ellie is a very well rounded and likable character.
